Geoff and Hope’s Letter

Dear Birth Mother,

We cannot begin to say thank you for choosing life and adoption for your baby. You will greatly bless whatever family you choose. We know this is a choice that takes grace and courage, and we are so proud to be a part of that story. You and this baby have been in our prayers, and we believe God has designed every step on this journey for each of us. Thank you for hearing our story and considering allowing us to be a part of yours.

We live in a quiet neighborhood in the town where we both grew up, with our two short-legged dogs, Watson, a Bassett Hound, and Toby, a Corgi, and are surrounded by wonderful neighbors. We are very involved at our church, not only as members, but Geoff is the youth pastor, and Hope is the worship leader. Geoff has worked for the last three years as an elementary PE coach at a nearby private Christian school, and Hope has worked at that same school for the past 14 years, 13 as the middle school and high school theatre teacher, and now as the middle school counselor. It was actually at the school that we met. We were introduced to each other by a mutual friend after one of Hope’s students’ performances, and after about twenty very awkward seconds of introduction, we went our separate ways. Fortunately, Geoff did finally reach out, and after two years of dating, it was after another performance that he proposed.

We have been married for almost 9 years, and God has brought us through many different seasons over the years. Our family is small, but important to us. Geoff is an only child, but his parents live in town and are involved in our lives in several ways, from church to family time to selling fireworks together in the summer! Hope’s mom lives in town and works at the same school as Hope and Geoff, so she gets to be involved in several ways. Hope had a wonderful relationship with her brother, who passed away 14 years ago, and she loved growing up with a sibling. Hope’s dad passed away this past year, and while we are processing that grief for us and our child, not getting to know him, we look forward to sharing who he was and the joy he brought to so many people. Although our family may look small at first glance, we have so many people in our lives who have been praying alongside us for you and this baby and who are ready to shower this child with love!

Our heart’s desire has long been to be parents, but a part of our story has been dealing with fertility issues. We knew adoption would always be a part of our story, but we took a step in faith and tried various fertility treatments. Two failed IUIs and a failed IVF later, we decided that adoption was not only supposed to be a part of our story but the start of it!

We are excited to meet you and have been praying both for this baby and for you. Your choice is such an act of love and service, and we are so blessed to be a part of your story.

With Love,
Geoff and Hope
