The Adoption Process

1. REACH OUT TO ONE OF OUR COUNSELORS

The more you understand your options, the more confident you will feel about making the best choice for you and your baby. Our counselors are here to walk you through this process.

Reaching out to one of our counselors does not mean you’ve decided to place your baby for adoption. We are here to give you factual information on adoption and to help you make the best choice for you and your baby. You can contact one of our counselors, by phone, through e-mail, by text, by completing the online contact form or by scheduling a face-to-face meeting.

2. MEET YOUR CASEWORKER

If you decide on adoption for your baby you will begin working with your caseworker on your personalized adoption and living plan.

Adoption Plan: You and your caseworker will begin developing an adoption plan tailored to you. Typically, no two adoption plans look the same. Our counselors will work with you to develop an adoption plan based on your comfort level and your hopes and dreams for you and your baby.

Living Plan: You can choose to live at home or in our maternity apartments during your pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth, where you will be surrounded by loving people who will provide emotional and spiritual support. In either living plan, you may qualify for our free services, which include housing, medical care, transportation, food, emotional support, pregnancy related counseling, education and legal services.

3. CHOOSE A FAMILY

Our adoptive parents submit profiles after they are screened and approved by Christian Homes & Family Services. These profiles will provide you with photos and personal information about each of our families. You’ll have plenty of time to go through these profiles and choose the perfect family for your child when you are ready.

After you choose a family, you are then able to decide how much contact you want to have with the adoptive couple. Whether or not you choose to have contact with your adoptive couple before and after the baby is born is up to you. The choice is completely yours.

4. PLAN YOUR DELIVERY

You will work with your medical professional and your caseworker to plan the delivery for you and your baby.

5. GET SUPPORT AFTER DELIVERY

During your pregnancy and especially after your delivery we will work with you to meet your goals. These goals can include finding a place to live, a job, or even a career. Most importantly, we will be your friend for life and always there for you and your child.
