Clark and DeeAnn’s Letter

Dear Birth Mother,

We are humbled that you are here reading this. To get to this point must have taken much thought and consideration of your child and their future.

We are Clark and DeeAnn. We have been married 10 years, lived in Colorado, Arizona and mostly Oklahoma. We’ve gone on many adventures together and look forward to many more. We have two dogs: Tucker and Iris, and one cat: Chandler. DeeAnn works remotely as an implementation manager, and has been at her company for 5.5 years and loves learning new things and being challenged at work. She values the flexibility that working remotely allows, and the time off option her company provides for adopting parents. Clark works as a classic car mechanic at a shop with our neighbor. He is resourceful, artistic, and can fix anything. He is planning to be a full time caregiver once the baby arrives.

Our lives revolve around our families, both near and far, our church family, and being outside. We prioritize spending time building relationships with others through dinners, card games, walking dogs, and serving together. Our first date was camping and hiking a mountain in Colorado, and we’ve continued to do that for the past 10 years. Being in nature, surrounded by the beauty of the flowers, trees and the bird songs brings peace and joy to our lives. DeeAnn’s family, parents and brothers both live in the same town as us and we see them multiple times per week. We have nieces and nephews ages 1 month – 5 years that we have had the immense joy of watching them grow and supporting them as they learn how to be in this world. Clark’s family lives 1.5 hrs away, and he also has grandparents and extended family in Colorado. His grandpa and grandma have been so supportive of us, since they themselves adopted a little boy forty-nine years ago. Their example and marriage continue to guide us.

We have been praying, hoping, longing for the day that we get to be called parents and get to bring a little one with us on our adventures. This was not an easy decision for us either, it came with much heartache as our attempts to build our family did not work out in the way we expected. Through all that, we had hope that God would provide us a family and a child to care for in whatever way he made known. For us, that way is adoption. The path to finding Christian Homes & Family Services was truly God putting people in our lives that guided us in this way. We believe the Holy Spirit is alive and working in us and in those around us that support us and love us. We know that we are adopted into Christ’s family, and with that same heart we want to adopt a child into our family. We desire to have a strong, open adoption with the ability to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives. We believe that open communication and knowledge of the adoption process and birth family will play a huge part in how we raise this child. They will know your name. We will call you family, and we are so excited to meet you and begin this journey. It is not only us that is praying for you, but our small group at church and our extended family pray for peace, guidance and assuredness in the coming days as you make challenging decisions.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
DeeAnn and Clark
