Spencer and Maggie’s Letter

To our Birth Mom,

We want you to know we recognize the difficulty of the decision you are making to place your baby in someone else’s home. Throughout this process, we hope you experience the joy and comfort Jesus offers. We pray you feel His warmth from us and from those closest to you. He is the reason we’re even crossing paths, and we believe He offers the greatest peace you could ever experience. We pray that peace for you and your child.

We met in 2011 when we both worked for a small oilfield company in Texas. We were friends for a while (too long if you ask Maggie!) and then dated for about a year before getting engaged. We added Maverick (English Springer Spaniel) in 2015. In 2022, we adopted our first daughter. She is funny, sassy, sweet, and will be the best big sister! We love and respect her birth mom (“Mama T”), and know we will love you too!

We live on Maggie’s family’s cattle ranch—about 15 minutes away from her parents and lots of other family, and Spencer’s family is only a couple of hours away. Spencer works from home full-time, and Maggie works from home part-time and in town part-time. We love spending time traveling with friends and family—whether to the beach, the mountains, or anywhere in between! We both love mountain biking (our daughter loves riding along!) and are planning for our first Adventure Race.

We love our church and love serving in the kids area. We also lead the young adults ministry. In our other spare time, Maggie is obsessed with tap dancing (she’s been doing it since she was 4!) and Spencer enjoys making stained glass and getting on the water any chance he has. Maggie is also working on a seminary degree.

Maggie says: Spencer makes everything better. He is for sure the ‘fun’ parent! Our daughter is obsessed with him, and for good reason! He is silly, kind, strong, and affectionate. He challenges me to be a better partner and parent, and he is infinitely patient and loving. I have never doubted his love for me or our daughter, and I know he will show you and your baby the same love and care.

Spencer says: Maggie is as beautiful as she is passionate. I cannot imagine a better wife or mother for our children. She is extremely intelligent and has a heart to advocate for people in need and those she loves. Maggie thrives on traveling to new places and spending time with friends. She loves the big city and appreciates her roots as a rancher. Maggie never stops learning, whether its taking academic classes, being a technology wizard, or trying new activities (she most recently learned to surf!). My heart is most full while watching Maggie and our daughter laugh together and snuggle.

We love each other deeply and promise to weave your child into that love. We also care about you and your well-being, and commit to partnering with you for what’s best for you and your baby. We vow your child will always know where they came from and we promise to always make sure they know what you did for them—your love will forever be a central piece of their story.

When we think about adoption, we think about the simultaneous happiness of one family who is gaining new life, and grief of a family who is placing their child with another family. We think about the strength of spirit in expectant moms and dads who find themselves considering adoption for their baby.

We hope you know you are loved, wanted, and prayed for!

With love,
Spencer & Maggie
