Matthew and Danah’s Letter

Dear Birth Mother,

Hi, we are Matthew and Danah. We recognize the powerful decision you have on your hands and have such respect for you that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for your child. Please know that we are praying for you as you make this selfless decision and hope you are able to find a couple that speaks to your heart and gives you confidence and peace in your decision.

Thank you so much for taking time to get to know a little about us. Our “short story” is that we met in 2013, were married in 2015 and in this time that seems short, but also very long; we have experienced both great happiness and sadness. We thought it would be easy for us to have a child, but that was not the case. Thankfully, adoption is very familiar and comfortable for us and our families. We have eight cousins and a sweet niece who are adopted and so adoption has always been close to our hearts. In 2017, we were personally blessed through adoption with an amazing daughter, Lily, who has brought so much joy to our lives, and we are eager for the day we can add another child to our family for her to love on and grow up with.

We are both from large families, who raised us in church and family get-togethers. We spend all the holidays with our extended families and like to take vacations with our family as well. Danah’s brother is our “next-door” neighbor so we see his family on a daily basis, which means our daughter gets to grow up with her cousin, and this has been so fun to watch. We visit each of our parents at least once a month to allow our daughter quality time with them; and they all have so much fun with her and are excited to add another grandchild to their family.

Danah was born and raised in a small town in Central Texas and still loves to spend weekends there with her family. She enjoyed attending Texas A&M where she was a sports management major, but has made a career as a CPA for a Dallas-based restaurant. She is fortunate to be able to work from home, so is able to spend much of her time with our daughter, which has been a true blessing. She also has fun coaching our niece’s youth basketball team.

Matt was born in Dallas and grew up in the Metroplex. He is very comfortable with the hustle and bustle of the city, but has learned to appreciate the slower pace of time in the country. He spends time on the weekends as an umpire for youth baseball, but his “day job” is as an account representative for a local water service company. He loves to coach youth sports and is looking forward to the day he can coach our children as well.

We live in a rural community, and enjoy the fact that we don’t have people right next door, so are able to be outside and can be as loud as we want, without disturbing anyone. Most of the families near us have young children, so we are excited for our children to have lots of friends to grow up with. The school in our small town will provide a top-rated education, but also will allow our children the chance to participate in any school and community activities they choose.

We live near a larger town with many opportunities for family outings and time with our extended family, as well as a church family that we love! We chose our church home because it is apparent the people love God and others. We have found joy in volunteering with the junior high youth group, as well as with the children’s program and are so grateful for the love they pour into our daughter as well.

We are looking forward to all the things that another child will add to our life, but we are also aware that not every day will be perfect. On the days when things are not as easy, we promise that we will continue to love and support this child, and will work daily to raise the child in a way that he or she will become a successful adult, that knows God and is always loved.

There is so much more to us outside of these short paragraphs and we would love the chance to meet you in person, so you can get to know us and we can get to know you. We know what it is to love a child deeply and know that your decision is also filled with this great love and we will continue to pray for you as you make your decision.

With much love and respect,
Matthew & Danah
