James and Johnice

Hello! We are James & Johnice! We call Nashville TN home and have been married for 16 years. While James is from Mississippi and Johnice is from Virginia, we met and married in Tennessee. We spend most of our days together and look forward to having your child be a part of our lives. We enjoy working out together, taking walks through the neighborhood and parks, grilling, and taking road trips. Since dating, adoption has always been a desire for us. We are thankful that we finally have the opportunity to do it.

We know that God orders our steps and has intricately woven our stories together for His perfect plan. Thank you for trusting us with your greatest gift and becoming a part of our story.

If we could describe ourselves in one word, it would be down-to-earth. We love people, each other, and God. We consider it an honor to serve and bless others. One of our favorite things to do is spend time with family. Whether it is here in the greater Nashville area or in rural parts of Mississippi or in the city beach life of Virginia, there is nothing like a James and Johnice cookout. James is the master of the grill and smoker. Johnice takes care of all the fixins and has an excuse to bake multiple cakes from scratch for our family and friends to enjoy while playing games, catching up on life, and trying out the latest line dances. Adoption has always been a part of God’s plan for our lives, and we knew we wanted 3 things to be in place: 1. Firm foundation in Christ and in our marriage 2. A deep understanding of the call and ministry of parenthood 3. The ability to be fully present with our kids. We have so much love and care to give to your baby. We are so thankful for you and your sacrifice and pray that God will continue to strengthen you and direct your path.

James and Johnice’s Letter

Dear Birth Mother,

Thank you for taking this important step and for having the faith and courage to do so. We are excited to share our story with you and thankful that you would consider us for the honor of providing your child with a safe home and loving and nurturing parents.

We are James and Johnice. Our stories began in Virginia and Mississippi. God was preparing an bright-eyed-city-girl and an clever-country-boy to meet in Tennessee. Shortly after graduating from college, we both moved to Tennessee and met each other in 2007. Despite our surface-level differences, our values, desires, and core beliefs were the same. We both wanted kids, and we knew that there was a call to adopt. We have been married for 16 years. We are the best of friends, but that didn’t come without its ups and downs. God has definitely moved in our lives, personally and as a couple. We truly do life together, and it is rare sighting if you see one without the other. We serve in our local church and community together. We enjoy taking road trips and we consider it a privilege to be able to see about our parents any time we like and need to. We love to host a good cookout, and in the fall, we enjoy football games and tailgating. Our days are filled with working out together in our home gym, walking in our neighborhood, and running errands.

We live in a quiet suburban neighborhood in a 5-bedroom brick house with a front porch and a back deck made for relaxing and experiencing peace. We have a large front and back yard ready to be filled with the laughter and happiness of a child playing.

James and Johnice have over a decade of experience in property management and Human Resources, respectively; we now own a management and consulting business. James runs the day-to-day operations, and Johnice oversees the administrative functions. Our careers started in working with at-risk youth as counselors; through the years, helping people have remained at the center of it all. Being self-employed has afforded us the opportunity to more present with each other and our family and friends. It is also the type of presence we always desired to have when raising children. James is a huge Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan and loves perfecting his skills on the grill and smoker. He has an art of bringing people together and making people feel comfortable. Johnice enjoys feeding people with her from-scratch cooking and baking and spending time with family and friends. We love our family and the family we have made in Tennessee. Aside from our parents, we have a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins who are ready to love on this child and be a positive influence.
