Tom and Brittany’s Letter

Dear Birth Mom,

First, we want to express our admiration for your courage and selflessness. The decision you’ve made is one of love, and we are honored by the trust you are placing in us. We promise to provide a nurturing, supportive home for your child and ensure they grow up knowing the depth of your love and the extraordinary gift you’ve given us.

We have always dreamed of growing our family through adoption. After struggling with infertility for six years, we fostered two boys who eventually reunited with their grandpa. Soon after, we discovered we were pregnant. The Lord has blessed us with two amazing kids, yet our hearts are set on adoption. With siblings who are adopted, we’ve witnessed the goodness of God in this process firsthand.

We met in 2010 at the end of college—Brittany was finishing up at ACU, and Tom had just graduated from Hardin-Simmons. We were set up on a blind date for New Year’s, and what began as a sweet friendship led us to teaching and coaching north of Fort Worth. We supported each other as we launched into our new careers, eventually falling in love and getting married in 2011.

Tom taught high school math for twelve years and now works from home as an actuary for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Tom’s job allows him to enjoy slower mornings with the kids and stay involved in their school activities. His teaching background has made him a positive role model in the lives of many kids. In his free time, Tom enjoys serving at our church, grilling, spending time outdoors, traveling, and watching college basketball and football. Brittany, an Instructional Coach, works with students and teachers across several elementary schools, giving her the opportunity to connect with children from diverse backgrounds. Her role allows her to be present at our kids’ school and in their classrooms, which is a true blessing. She enjoys being outside, coffee dates with friends, traveling, and creating family memories.

We live in North Fort Worth, where we feel rooted and surrounded by the best family and friends. Our home is ten minutes from our church and only a few minutes from the kids’ school. We love our schools and are excited about the opportunities our kids will have as they grow. We have a big backyard where we spend lots of time grilling and playing. Our kids pray for their new sibling and are excited about growing our family. About a year ago, we moved into a two-story brick home with adoption in mind. We love making memories together and can’t wait to fill all the rooms.

While it’s tough to fully capture who we are in a letter, we hope this gives you a glimpse into our lives and our hearts for adoption. We’re an approachable, down-to-earth family and we would love the opportunity to get to know you.
