Nick and Addie’s Letter

Dear Birth Mom,

We are grateful you have chosen life for your baby, and we believe the path that led you here was orchestrated by God, although it may have been challenging at times. We commend you on your bravery and outstanding love for this unborn child. As we embark on this journey together, we are committed to joining you in loving your baby and will care for him/her for their entire life. This child will know unconditional love and support as we raise him/her in a safe environment. It is our hope to grow a relationship with you, too, if that’s what you choose.

We are Addie and Nick and are excited to share more about our family and hopefully meet you one day! We met through mutual friends and have been married for seven years now. After a couple years of trying to get pregnant, we started to look into adoption agencies and then found out we were pregnant. We have a beautiful two and a half year old son, James, who radiates joy and will be a wonderful brother. Here we are, back on the adoption path, and are so excited and hopeful for what’s to come! It was in God’s plan all along for adoption to be part of our story and we trust in His timing. Before kids, we rescued two lab mixes early in our marriage and they have become gentle giants who love to lay with our son, beg for him to throw the ball, and give lots of kisses.

Both of us have cousins who are adopted, and our families are thrilled to add another family member through adoption. The majority of our family on both sides live within a seven mile radius, and you can often find us hanging out with family over a meal, game night, or a football game. Family is very important to us, and we are so fortunate to have help at the drop of a hat if needed. We take turns babysitting nieces/nephews/grandchildren. They say it takes a village, and we have the best one around.

Our close friends often feel like family. They have been so supportive as we pursue adoption and are eager to see who the newest addition to our family is. We see our friends regularly at football tailgates/games, supper club, birthday parties, special occasions, or “just because”. Our neighborhood is charming, established, and family friendly. We have a clubhouse where neighbors gather for holiday parties, play tennis, and swim. The Fourth of July parade winds through the streets and brings everyone out to their front yards to judge the floats.

Addie works part time in commercial real estate and Nick works in Marketing for PepsiCo. Since Addie works flexible hours from home, she is able to care for James and his future siblings. Nick is one of the most hands-on dads we know, and loves being involved in his children’s lives. We prioritize family and have a healthy work/life balance. At home, we share taking care of our son and in household responsibilities. We value the relationship each of us has and will have with each of our children and want to instill in them the fruits of the Spirit, and most of all, to know God’s love.

You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will honor you and your decision to place your baby for adoption. We have been and will continue to pray for you as we embark on this journey together.
