Dear Birth Mother,
We would first like to start off by saying how truly courageous you are. We can only imagine how trying and stressful this time has to be for you. Please know that we truly respect your love and commitment to your child and pray for God’s guidance and strength for you during this journey. Through this letter we hope you can find answers to questions you may have about us as a couple and as a family.
We are Barry and Samantha. We have what we consider to be a truly unique relationship. Our relationship actually began with our families. Both of our parents have been best friends for many years. Through their friendship we began to become close friends. After graduating from college, we realized what God had been trying to show us all along and allowed him to take full control of our relationship. After a short courtship, Barry proposed and 11 month later we were married. We married in the Spring of 2011, and have two biological sons. Tripp was born in 2012 and Shepherd, “Shep”, in 2015. We were blessed to have biological children, but it has always been a prayer of ours to one day adopt and bless our boys with another sibling. We believe with all our hearts that adopting a child is truly a gift from God, and one that requires great responsibilities on all parties involved. With God at the center of our relationship, our marriage is stronger than ever and our love for our children grows with every day.
Barry is Branch Manager/Assistant Vice President of a local bank and Samantha is a special need “life skills” teacher at our local school, where we both attended growing up. We are always busy and involved in some activity or project. We live on a 400 acre cattle and horse ranch. Barry has competed in rodeos and shown horses his entire life, which is how our families first met. We both love being outdoors, whether working in our flower beds, taking the boys on evening 4-wheeler rides, horseback riding around the property, fishing, hunting, hiking, or playing sports. If you are familiar with Texas colleges, Samantha bleeds maroon and is a Fighting Texas Aggie, Barry is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Our boys love to ride horses competing in play days and junior rodeos. Tripp, our oldest son, played his first year of T-Ball this year and we must say that it was truly entertaining.
We are devout members of our childhood church. We enjoy participating in small group bible studies. Barry sings solos and is in our men’s group. Sam teaches VBS every summer and is part of our church’s children’s ministry. We also attend women and men’s bible studies seasonally. Our church is so amazing with such a great group of young adults and families. They are incredibly supportive of our want to adopt and are praying for us, you, and your child. We, as a family, will continue to pray for you daily as well. We look forward to getting to know you better.
