Larissa joined the Christian Homes & Family Services team in September of 2016 as a Family Services Caseworker. After graduating with her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Abilene Christian University in 2004, she moved to Arequipa, Peru to do mission and development work through Team Arequipa and the Christian Urban Development Association. Upon returning to the USA with her husband and three children, she is currently working on her Master of Social Work degree through Our Lady of the Lake University.
Larissa feels called to the social work profession because of her heart for hurting children. She believes that every child should be safe and cared for in their family of origin; however, if that is not the case, then there needs to be a ready team of professionals and foster or adoptive families prepared to step in and ensure that each child has a safe place to heal and thrive. Every single person carries the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, protected and supported, regardless of the circumstances that may make that difficult.
