Dear Courageous One,
At the risk of sounding like most hopeful adoptive parents, we need to express our true feelings. We mean every word and we pray it resonates with you. First and foremost, we want you to know we have the upmost respect for you. Your commitment to life is admirable. Your strength is unprecedented. You have one of the most selfless loves to be witnessed this side of heaven. We want you to know we will love your little one with every fiber of our being. We will always speak highly of you and the amazing sacrifice you made. We have been praying for our child’s birth parent since the day we filled out the pre-application with Christian Homes. The Lord has already stirred a love for this brave soul in our hearts. We love our child’s birth mom and we don’t even know her yet.
We want to share some of our life with you. Our hope is that you can get as clear of a picture as possible about the kind of life we live and how we will raise any child that joins our family. One of the things we value most is time with one another. If you were to ask either of us, we would tell you that our favorite kind of day is making coffee and breakfast together and reading books or our Bibles in the living room while we listen to some music. Joel is a runner, very hard working, and never leaves home without his to-do list. Hailee loves to draw, paint, and do calligraphy/hand-lettering or other crafts. Opening our home up for friends, family, or our church is also something we love to do.
The things that we value most and what we most want to teach our future children are rooted first and foremost in our Christian faith. We want our kids to grow up knowing about God and that He sent His Son to die for us. We can’t think of a more clear way to tell someone they are valued than to teach them that God loved them so much that He came and adopted them into His family long before we adopted them into our own. Our prayer is that they will know that adoption isn’t something to be ashamed of, but a beautiful plan that God had for all of us all along.
We are both teachers. Joel splits his time between coaching cross country and track & field and teaching 12th grade Bible. He thinks that one day soon he will choose one or the other and focus exclusively on it, but for now he really enjoys being able to do both. Hailee teaches students from all over the world as a 4th grade English as a Second Language teacher. She also spends a lot of time working with an infertility ministry that we are co-directors of. We hope that one day this might be able to be a full-time position for her so that she can stay at home with our future children.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us, and for considering how your child would bless our family. We hope to learn more about you soon - and your little miracle.
