Volunteers

You can make an eternal difference in the life of a child, young woman or an entire family, when you volunteer at Christian Homes & Family Services.

Volunteers are needed to assist with our Birthmothers in such ways as:

  • Serve as Maternity Mentors
  • Conduct Bible studies
  • Teach skills such as cooking, baking and sewing
  • Teach basic housekeeping skills
  • Teach basic computer skills
  • Teach employment and interview skills
  • Instruct basic financial management
  • Tutor at the high school level
  • Teach scrap booking, knitting, crocheting, or other crafts
  • Arrange outings like trips to the zoo, Frontier Texas, downtown museums
  • Organize parties and holiday events
  • Provide cosmetic services such as manicures, pedicures and haircuts.

Volunteers are also needed at the office to:

  • Answer phones during peak periods
  • File and copy
  • Count change
  • Fold and stuff mailings

Volunteers also help with special events by:

  • Decorating
  • Addressing invitations
  • Ushering
  • Soliciting contributors

Or you can help from home by:

  • Quilting or crocheting baby blankets
  • Writing encouraging notes to expectant birthmothers
  • Baking treats for young women in maternity care
  • Praying

Volunteers, except for those helping from home or working on a special event, must complete an application and provide references which, according to state law, must be screened and processed.
